As we get older, sleep needs someone realtuf decreased. According to research sebuahe, healthy adults need less sleep than younger people. Despite the lack of sleep that night, they face the possibility of smaller ones to feel tired during the day.

According to research, older adults aged 66-83 years old, slept for 20 minutes less than the middle-aged adults – 40-55 years old who slept 23 minutes less than young adults aged 20-30 years.

Older adults often wake up and spend more time while awake than those of younger adults. Suspected sleep becomes the most important stage of sleep to restore energy, decrease in duration as you age, the study said.

However, although older adults sleep less soundly and less complete, and they sleep less constant than younger people, they also showed decreased need for sleep during the day.

Research was conducted at the Clinical Research Center at the University of Surrey, UK and involving 110 healthy adults without sleep disorders or complaints. As many as 44 of whom are still young, 35 people aged 31 middle-aged and older adults.

They were asked to sleep normally for one night and the next night for the measurement (baseline). Then for the next two nights, they slept harassed and followed by one night to recovery.

During the baseline night, young adults spend an average sleep 433.5 minutes. Adults middle age takes 410 minutes and the older adults for 390 minutes.

On the same night, young adults spend 118.4 minutes to sleep soundly, compared with 85.3 minutes for adults middle-aged and 84.2 minutes for the younger adults.

But when asked to lie down in a comfortable position in bed during the day and tried to sleep, young adults to sleep in an average time 8.7 minutes, compared with nearly 12 minutes required by adults middle age and just over 14 minutes for older adults.
